There Will Be What?

Radiohead is not short on talent, whether as a cohesive unit or individually.

Take, for example, guitarist Johnny Greenwood’s foray into film score composition for 2008′s There Will Be Blood.  Of course, there’s also figurehead Thom Yorke’s 2006 solo endeavor.  But the next Radiohead off-shoot comes from what may be considered a less expected member of the band: drummer Phil Selway.

On August 30 of this year, Selway will release his debut solo album, Familial, which was produced by Ian Davenport at Radiohead’s Courtyard Studios.  The 10-track LP will feature guest contributors such as Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing), Lisa German, Glenn Kotche (Wilco), and Patrick Sansone.

Selway has been performing solo since 2001, gigging as part of the 7 Worlds Collide charity benefit and releasing two tracks on an associated benefit album, 7 Worlds Collide: The Sun Came Out.  To see video of a live performance, click here.

Additionally, Selway has been busy with Radiohead as they record a follow-up to 2007′s In Rainbows in L.A.

Familial Tracklist:

01 By Some Miracle
02 Beyond Reason
03 A Simple Life
04 All Eyes On You
05 The Ties That Bind Us
06 Patron Saint
07 Falling
08 Broken Promises
09 Don’t Look Down
10 The Witching Hour

Haiti-ohead

Radiohead announced an impromptu concert amidst their current recording session in order to send relief to recently devastated Haiti.  The tickets, whose entire proceeds will benefit Oxfam, will be auctioned off from 8pm (PST) tonight, January 21st, until 11am (PST) Saturday, January 23rd, through Ticketmaster.

The benefit concert will take place Sunday, January 24th  at The Music Box at the Fonda in Los Angeles, CA.  Those living in the surrounding area should take advantage of this rare opportunity to see Radiohead “on the fly” and support Haitians and rescue  teams alike as they work fervently to rebuild.
